Tribune Closes DC TV Bureau

Tribune Co. told the nine broadcasting members of its Washington bureau today that their positions are being eliminated, effective in March. The staffers were told of the decision today.

Tribune spokesman Gary Weitman said that Tribune has news sharing agreements with CNN that it will use to service its stations. He added that the bureau’s newspaper reporters may be called on to contribute, if necessary, and said that in the case of very big stories such as the Obama inauguration, many of the Tribune stations sent their own reporters to Washington.
