One of the last of the surviving newsreel men and early NBC staff photographers, Bill Birch, died just a few days ago at the age of 93.

Its likely you’ve seen some of his work, whether it was the Blues Brothers or NBC’s films of the 1957 Little Rock desegregation protests.

But recognizing his name outside of a small circle of people. Probably not. The vast majority of photographers are anonymous.
