We are about to go HD. I am being asked to make decisions about operational issues I have no reference point for. What are the little life savers you have discovered in the Non-linear, SDI, Embedded Audio world. We have to install the gear and make it workable and then most importantly support it.

We are coming from Beta SX. Yes we often get made fun of when we show up with our tapes and laptop decks. Video is still 1 volt in 1 volt out to many of us. SDI is brave and new and currently the learning curve is flat.

Ergonomics to gizmos. I’m open to any discussion. ALL help is exactly that. We are all excited but leery of landmines.

Our mobile infrastructure will be as follows.

Acquisition:
Sony XD Cam, the 500 (SxS).

Ingest / Playback:
Sony SxS/Disc Decks.

Editing:
Edius Editing on Rackmount HP’s.
I/O to Edius via Storm 3G Elite.

Legacy:
Sony Beta SX Deck.

Distribution:
HD/SDI Embedded
Discreet audio embedded into sources at switch in
L R audio of each TX Path available out

Transmit:
HD/SDI DVB S2 Ku
ASI Mw

Just curious if we have missed anything super obvious ‘cause it’s our first foray.
