Just wondering… when sent to a news conference, for something like a big announcement at a local college,
– Do you roll on ALL the participants and the MC?
– If you don’t roll on everyone, how do you decide who to record?
– Do you get sound from the mult box, or just use you shotgun? or
– Do you plan on getting a one on one interview afterwards?
– Do you plan for cutaways and establishing shots?
– Do you move around the room to get a variety of different shots?
– Do you light?
– If you don’t light, do you appreciate it if someone else has set up lights?

Just wondering because I recently shot such an event. My partner and I decided one of the speakers was of no use to us, so when she took the mic, I started shooting cutaway, etc. A few weeks later, management wanted her video and sound from the podium? I was the first guy there, helped set up the mult box, and lit the room.
