Protect your gear – pack a gun

This article has been around for a while, but I just noticed it. For those of us that travel around with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars of gear, this article suggests that picking up a $20 starter pistol can all but guarantee that your gear won’t be stolen by baggage handlers or airport employees. Even though a starter pistol doesn’t shoot bullets, the TSA still considers it a weapon, which means extra measures are taken to track it and keep it secured while in transit. Seems like a pretty good idea. Has anyone else started doing this already? Has it given you peace of mind, or has it only added to your travel nightmares?
