Audio problem with TASCAM recorder

June 30, 2012 forum topics
Hi,

I either use my tape out on my Sounddevices or Shure FP33, which is a 1/8 inch jack, with a locking connector, to connect to the tape in of my TASCAM HDP2 recorder, which is a stereo RCA jack. I am currently using a Radio Shack Y cable, but it is a little noisy. If I connect to the TASCAM via XLR instead, I have a very quiet connection, despite the fact that I am going through a 2nd set of preamps. I am switching line/mic and doing everything else correctly. I have also tried two different RCA Y cables, and they both have a slight hiss. I have also looked for an RCA Y with a locking connector on the 1/8 inch end, but I cannot find one anywhere.

Suggestions please! Thanks.
