This isn’t the best quality but its fast, cheap, and gets us on the air in situations where, otherwise, you’d never get a LIVE shot up. All I’m using is the free version of Ustream Producer, a Grass Valley ADVC-55 Converter ($169), a MacBook Pro with a FireWire port, and my iPhone 4’s hotspot. The driving shot is from a weather proof camera mounted on the roof of the car and the LIVE shot is using my NX5U. I’ve always been able to get a signal to stream and the Producer software automatically optimizes the stream to ensure a smooth, constant picture. We’ve been using this more and more during weather when LIVE trucks are NOT an option. I know a lot of stations use Skype but its always a choppy picture. This is just a better option in my opinion. Just wanted to share this for any other photographers that want to try it out. This is using all of my own equipment.
