I was out on a shoot and came across this story by accident and was offered it as an exclusive. I found out about it at about 8:30pm and the only way to get it was to be there at 8:30am the next morning. Fearing it would be handed off to a VJ that would butcher the story, I did not tell the station about it. Instead I went to shoot it on my own in the morning (with my own gear) and brought it to the 1pm meeting with the stipulation that I must edit it and work with the reporter it’s assigned to. Management loved it because it was an exclusive and we were left alone to do it. Here is the hot open promo edited with the pkg.
