Where I’ve Been

July 4, 2012 photog blogs

I’m so tired right now, I can’t guarantee how appropriate the wording of my first blog post in well over two weeks.

While fiddling with the settings that automatically post my Instagram pics to the blog, I somehow “effed” it up completely.

That’s why you haven’t seen even the most basic of updates in a while.

I couldn’t tell you about a hit and run driver that killed a person down in the OC over a week ago.

My reporter and I fought traffic to the location in Seal Beach where the suspect had crashed into a fence along a desolate piece of military base bordering road.

After a couple of live shots, we fought traffic all the way back to the station.

There’s been a lot of that going on in my life lately. No reason for it. That’s just how it is sometimes.

Just a shot inside the newsroom. I haven’t posted a picture of it recently and had intended to share one with the blog.

A little late, but here you go.

As I was saying earlier, traffic has been a big factor in my life recently.

When a water leak closed down a couple of lanes of he 110 Freeway, I was able to snap a quick shot that showed how bad life was for folks heading towards the water leak and how good it was for folks heading away from it.

My good buddy, William R. (Buzz) Snyder was in town for a book signing at an independent bookstore on the Palos Verdes Penninsula.

Good reading and a pretty darn good beer was had while he was in town.

This shot was completely random, but I was curious if anyone else had seen any of this graffiti artist’s work.

This piece was on a wall in an alley in Manhattan Beach.

I made it to the Anime Expo this year and was able to get credentialed to go inside where all the best cosplay folks parade their passion for sometimes over the top strange behavior.

I’m not saying every person who dresses up like a Japanese animation school girl with mad ninja skills is off their rocker.

Just some of the dudes I saw.

I made a lot of progress on the upkeep of my yard this year. So much progress that I was able to repopulate our pond for the first time in several years.

There’s about twenty goldfish and one happy wife enjoying my efforts. I tend to only stock goldfish. I’ve seen the demise of several expensive koi in past catastrophic accidents I the past. Also, more importantly, I’m a cheapskate.

Andy Griffith passed away and I covered the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce placing flowers on his star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame”.

One-man live picture at 11am and noon and then off to Cudahy for political fun with a reporter and local politicians caught doing and things.

Power corrupts.

Glad to see that not everyone was completely wrapped up in the drama.

The mayor of Cudahy resigned because of pressure from the community.

These folks were obviously not clowning around. And there you have it. Not everything I did in the last few weeks, but much of what was interesting. Let’s hope I get some rest and have a little more down time.

Oh, and let’s hope I can fix the link between my blog and Instagram. After all, who needs sleep when there’s blogging to be done.

Happy Independence Day!
