After navigating through traffic for almost an hour, huffing it six city blocks with hefty gear, and climbing atop the second tallest building in town, I was able to witness a lil’ bit o’ history.
I was fortunate enough to have a front row seat for Endeavor’s trip across the Golden State, which was just as awe-enspiring as one might imagine. Seriously, it was pretty freakin’ cool.
Cool enough to drag me back to this blog after a multi-month hiatus. Not because times have been slow… quite the opposite. It’s tough to find free time these days, but I hope to get back into some creative writing here and there… if for no other reason because I’d like to keep this document of my journalism adventures moving forward. It’s been almost 6 years since this little online chronicle got started, and while it may not draw much of an audience… that was never the point. I love being able to look back over my career and remind myself of why this is such a cool job to have. Today, for example, I got paid to sit on a roof and watch this:
And that was quite a moment, at least for me. When I was 3, I received a giant inflatable space shuttle for my birthday, and there may or may not be a video out there of me running around the old house with it. Seeing it pass by like it did today brought back some distant childhood memories, which I’m sure was true for everybody else that lined the streets (and roofs) across California this morning.
So it looks like the space program is moving on to bigger and better, and this blog trudges on. Posts probably won’t be all that regular, but when you get to see a crazy moment like this, it’s hard to not brag about a pretty cool day at the office.
More to come…
