I was doing a two camera shoot for and out of town client. He had sent down the cameras, 2 Sony PDW 530’s and young guy they had recently hired as a second cameraman.
He seemed to know next to nothing about the cameras. How to select line level sound input, two times extender, filter wheels, colour balance, putting on the tripod all a mystery to him.
No problem. We were there an hour early to set up so I thought I’d run him through how everything worked… but he wasn’t interested. Every time I turned around he was off with the stills guy oozing over his Canon 5D. Apparently that was a “real” camera, not this old video rubbish.
You can fix ignorant but what do you do about wilfully stupid?
