Great tip! One I’ve used many times before with great success. And believe me when I say the sports guys are thrilled and amazed that you would go “above and beyond” with something like this. Not only does it help you when shooting, but it also makes editing the highlights easier and more dramatic too.
The only catch with this, when using the app on your phone is two-fold: 1) There can be a delay, from a second to several. 2) Any phone call (darn assignment desk!) will interrupt the radio feed. To counter this, if you can find an old-school walkman with a radio, that works just as well and has no delay.
