I’ve been thinking about upgrading my current tripod to a Sachtler. I was thinking a combo of a Video 15 SB head and Speed Lock CF 100mm legs.

I primarily shoot with a Canon C300 and I travel quite a bit. So something lightweight and robust is important for me.

While I’ve used many a Sachtler, I’ve never owned one nor had one in my kit when I was a staffer. I’ve been impressed with the ones I’ve used, and I know the brand’s stellar reputation. I just always like to do a bit of research before I invest nearly 8K in a new piece of gear.

Note: I know I don’t really need the weight-bearing abilities of the 100mm systems with a C300. But I’ve used Sachtler 75mm "prosumer" models and I haven’t been all that impressed. Also the height you get out of them is a little pathetic. If I need to interview anyone standing who is over 5’9" it’s next to impossible.
