My rubber lens hood popped out of the plastic ring, I keep pushing one end into the groove in the ring, but the other side always pops out, and I can’t fit it all back in there. It looks like the ring is snapped together from two pieces but I can’t take it apart, looks glued in place.

Is it possible to get the rubber piece back in or is this a lost cause and a need to order a new lens hood?
