A *POSITIVE* interaction with the cops.

I think we too often single out the run-ins we have with law enforcement, and forget that for the most part, the day to day interactions are uneventful.

Today, we had a pursuit that wound through a couple of counties. I was able to get ahead of it, thinking I would just get a shot of it going by, but as I got on the freeway the pursuit whizzing by. However, the driver went flying across all the lanes of the freeway, maybe 20 feet ahead of me, and took the next exit. I got as for over to the right as I could, actually waved the units not rolling code 3 past me, and they end up taking out the car at the bottom of the ramp.

I jump out, ask the one cop if there was a position of cover, he pointed to one of the patrol cars and I took up a spot right behind the officers as they got the suspect out of the car.

Once they called a code 4, the one officer I was with said "go go go" and I was able to get right up near the suspect. The officer who had the guy handcuffed, saw me, pointed to me, and said something to another cop, who then proceeded to walk the guy right up to me and search him.

Talking with them afterwards, they said the simple fact I didn’t try to keep up when they passed me, and was alert enough get over and wave through the trailing cars, they wanted to get me up there and get the shots.
