Playing on the Freeway

I’m trying to get into at least better shape.  That’s why I’m up late.  I just finished a run on my treadmill.  Now, I’m going to exercise my brain by stringing a few words together while having a beer and a tuna sandwich.

Come on, don’t judge me.

It was almost a month ago that I covered this story.  An FBI agent. . .well, a missing law enforcement officer (could’ve been FBI, I seriously don’t remember), was missing.  His car was found near a freeway on-ramp and the suspicion was that he’d been the victim of foul play.

It’s kind of scary to think that the “dangerous world we live” in is probably even more dangerous for cops and other folks who try to enforce the law and keep the peace.

They found him later that night.  He was safe and sound and had only been out of touch for normal reasons; turned off his phone after having gotten a ride from a friend.

So, the massive manhunt was on some level, well, successful.

Traffic was fairly light on the freeway.  We had a whole lane that was coned off for the search and made available for the media.

Squeezed together at the edge of the search area and safely situated out of harm’s way, we did a couple of live hits. . .

. . .and one gang bang interview.

As people sped past the scene, many of them slowed and asked what we were covering.  Really?

Please, don’t ever do that.

Nobody caused an accident, but some came pretty close.

I know the media circus is going to attract attention, but try to be safe.  You can always watch the news to find out what happened.  The last thing you want is a to get into a fender bender while being a busy-body.

You should leave that to the professionals.
