Seeing crime scene tape and police cars around the corner from my house is pretty convenient, but a triple homicide that close to home kind of freaks me out.

I was on the way to work the other day, but I didn’t get far. At the end of my street as I turned the corner, I saw the kind of thing that I usually see on the job. I’m just usually somewhere else when I see it.

One quick call to the assignment desk to see if they wanted me on the story and my neighbors were soon actually seeing me do my job.  Prior to this, they mostly saw me drive my news van to and from my driveway.

I’m writing about this in a very light hearted manner, but the truth of the matter is three people are dead, three murders very near where I live.

My first thoughts were to call a real estate agent and put the house on the market.

The only problem is that I know how dangerous the world can be.  The murders happened close to where I live this time.  I’ve covered some pretty horrible news in just about every type of neighborhood.

Bad things happen.  If it hasn’t happened in your neighborhood, consider yourself lucky.

Well, just between me and you (don’t let it freak you out), but I think it’s all just a matter of time.
