I have been experimenting with HDSLR video, and I am working in a FCP 7 environment shooting on a Canon 60 D. So far I have used the camera as a cutaway camera in a 2 person shoot and I have shot a couple of VO’s on it and overall I am happy with the picture. The biggest problem that I have with the video is that in high contrast shooting situations the dynamic range is lacking. Has anyone experimented with this and found any solutions that they are happy with? I have experimented with the Technicolor Cinestyle Scene profile, but I have not been able to find that sweet spot when I go into image controls in FCP. I know that there is software out there such as LUT Buddy that has presets to take the flat image that is produced by Technicolor Cinestyle profile and make it more desirable picture. But for right now that is not an option to me.
