If you have either the F55 or F5 and have been following the chat threads on the Sony website you’ll appreciate the company’s decision to soon offer ProRes and DNxHD as hardware additions in the future. Though no date has been announced, this is good noes since many producers and editors have been having trouble using XAVC in their Final Cut Pro 7 workflow. Sony will soon step up and make the F55/5 more competitive with other camera platforms.

It looks as though the upgrade must be an additional board in the camera and the talk is that it’ll be around $1000 though that’s not official, just rumored on the website. There is no timetable for it at the moment either.
