Filmore. Missing Hiker. Just the facts.

There’s a search for a missing hiker that’s been going on all week.
I was pulled from my regular assignment (covering politics) to run the satellite truck for our coverage of the story.
It was me -vs- little twisty mountain road for four days.
Which was okay. Honestly, I’d rather be covering politics, but we were short handed on SNG capable photographers.
You do what you gotta do.
I go where I’m needed.
So, for the first three days of this week, I went to Filmore California, then drove about eight miles North along a narrow and twisty road to the area where the searchers had set up a base camp.
On Thursday, the station decided to skip the sat truck and I was back on the political beat.
I thought I’d seen the last of Filmore for the week, but found myself back on the road again on Friday.
Yes, I was concerned about rattlesnakes, bears and coyotes.
My problems weren’t actually that serious. There were a lot of folks who had a tougher week than I did.
The search and rescue workers all had a tougher time of it.
A lot of people have asked me about this assignment.
It seems to have a lot of details that fuel speculation about maybe there being more to the story.
It’s difficult not to speculate, but when I stop and think about it, really all I want is for the guy to be found and for the story to have a good ending.
We’ll leave it at that.
