Job Summary:
The Edit Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operation of content editing for the News Department. This position supervises the activities of the edit area including workload, establishes departmental priorities and manages quality control. The Edit Supervisor also performs editing functions as required to support daily newscasts.
Essential Job Functions:
50%-Supervises editing staff and oversees daily operation of content editing.
40%-Performs editing functions in support of daily newscasts.
10%-Oversees editing system maintenance.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: All must be met to be considered.
Education:
College Degree in Communications, Television Production or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Minimum of three years non-linear editing experience in television news operations, preferably in a top 20 market. One year experience in a production house environment may be substituted for one year of news editing experience. Previous supervisory experience is required.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must possess effective interpersonal skills. Advanced knowledge of AVID editing systems required. Must possess good story telling and communications skills. Good sense of timing and pace is also required. Ability to teach and lead departmental staff. Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
