DSLR and audio

I have the new Canon 5DMKIII, but couldn’t find the highest audio sampling rate in the manual. What is the highest sampling rate? I know it can go to 24 kHz, 16 bit. I am wondering this because I have the Sounddevices Mix Pre D, which would be perfect for my 5D. However, I was on a shoot today using the MKII and we simply did double system and recorded on my TASCAM at 48 kHz, 24 bit.

If I have the mixer, can I get a decent sampling rate setting and connect it to the camera? Or, should I stick to double system? I noticed that the MKIII has timecode, but does it come out of the headphones jack? I am wondering this because I have the iPhone timecode slate and a cable that goes from the BNC timecode output on my P2 camera to the iPhone headphone jack. It would be great to get timecode out of my MKIII into my iPhone slate without using an external timecode generator.
