NatPkg Advice/Tips

April 24, 2012 forum topics
As some of you may know, I am very active in the Critiques section of b-roll.net. I see many good stories and unfortunately I’ve seen some not so good ones. One area of particular that I see photogs struggle with is in the NatPkg. I think to attempt one is an admirable quality…but I also think that sometimes photogs tend to force the issue and when it the final product airs you can tell it just doesn’t work or it had critical elements missing.

I attempted to do a natpkg on saturday night on a charity trivia event that I thought would make a great story from beginning to end. I shot and got great elements but realized in the end that some reporter track would be needed to properly get the job done.

So my question is…what elements are you specifically looking for when even thinking of attempting a natpkg? What techniques have you found that work and don’t work? Give as much advice so some of the younger guys can learn from this thread.
