We had just wrapped up our liveshot in a… eh hem… less than wonderful neighborhood when police (not called by us) started questioning some people about some Facebook posts (related to the original story).

Police asked our reporter to look at the posts and "decode" them into normal human language. As we were all in a circle the officer to my left started pushing me, the next thing I knew there was a bright flash and a loud BANG. Earlier in the night some kids had shot fireworks at a cop car down the road from us so I had my camera in my hand (pre rec on) ready to roll just in case.

The reporter went to the hospital after taking a mortar shell to the back of the head, the live truck also took a hit, denting the side panel behind the sliding door.

A scary night all in all, police ended up closing off the area in full riot gear before we left.
