I was just offered a fulltime position as Photographer/Editor for a TV station bureau in TX just yesterday. This position is M-F 9-6 primarily. I’ve been searching for fulltime work since being laid off in the recession back in 2009. I am over 40, never married, no kids, really no social life, living in my hometown I moved back too, has nothing for singles, since everyone is married or a couple.
The position is in news, which I enjoy doing, but my real love is commercial video production, which is what I was doing in Denver before the layoffs. Since the recession, I have been scared to death I’d never work in the field again, since nobody was hiring or hiring those positions that paid so low I cant take.
The salary is pretty good and location, can’t see any other reason to take the position, except for it being news and not production. My ultimate goal to to make it to Dallas/Ft Worth, this station is in a smaller city 1.5 hours away.
I have until Monday at 12p to accept or decline. As with many companies now, no relocation costs will be re-imbursed, it’s all up to me. I can see no reason to decline, but was shocked to get an offer after my interview was just two days prior.
Just trying to clear my head and make the right choice. I think it’s pretty clear, since nobody else is calling…..
thanks for any input
