I’m a writer working on a screenplay. In my story, a reporter and her husband are on the Oregon coast. A tsunami strikes just after sunset. At dawn the next day, they are cut off from the north and there is only one viable escape route to the south. (This would be quite common on the Oregon coast in the event of a tsunami.) It is only hours after the tsunami, and as they go south, they encounter the devastation. (Most little communities that dot the coast would be just plain gone.)
I assume even that early after the disaster it’s appropriate to have a news helicopter buzzing the coast. But at the moment my character is the only reporter on the ground. She has a cell phone and a small video cam in her purse.
How do you think she would handle the situation? How would she go about it?
Any information you can give will be appreciated.
