Unedited Video aka copy and paste

January 23, 2013 forum topics
I had a busy day recently, four pkgs airing between 4:30 and 6 on two different stories. Producer calls and asks for tease video. Not having a lot of time between editing and live shots, I grabbed some video, raw, and put it on a timeline and fed it. I told the editor who took in the feed that this was raw… That was fine, she needed it to edit teases and an open for the show.

Watching the 11 news, five hours after 6 pm pkg aired, my raw video was used as the VO. It wasn’t edited, someone just copied and pasted it.

The next day, the network picked up the story, they ran the raw video also.

Didn’t anyone look at the video? Couldn’t they tell it was raw?

I have no problem editing my own video. But I wasn’t asked for an edited VO, they needed raw, I fed 1:00 raw.

It’s frustrating, especially seeing my "unedited" work on the network’s news.

Is it laziness, or is it that people just don’t care and take pride in their work?
