When shooting in wet conditions (mist, fog, light rain, ect.) there are some parts of the kit that are hard to keep dry. Use Glad Press ‘n Seal. This stuff sticks to itself much better then cling wrap. It can be any shape and it keeps moisture out. It’s not waterproof, but it will keep those add on parts working properly.
Make a bag by sealing 3 sides of two squares together that will cover and protect an external recorder or FF motor. Wrap around a cable junction and keep moisture out of the connection. The tip came from Janice Arthur, a Steadicam Op. She uses it on the electronics box and break out boxs on the sled. They are odd shaped and will sometimes not stay under a cameras rain suit. This gives them protection from all sides, including the bottom so water won’t splash up when changing positions.
It’s pretty cheap. About $4/box. Well worth it to protect $3000+ sets of gear. And it fits under the passenger seat until needed.
She also recommends Crock Pot/slo-Cooker liners for camera covers. The plastic is made of a heat resistant material like oven bags so they can cover lights in the field and not start a fire.
I went shopping for these and found some stretch to fit food covers. They are plastic with an elastic like liner that will close up around whatever they are on, like monitors, zoom handles, ect.
