HELP!! HPX 370

May 31, 2013 forum topics
I’m wondering if anyone could help me. Every so often my old TV station hires me to freelance for them, usually sports related. This weekend I am covering Stanley Cup Hockey and have been asked to use their brand new Panasonic HPX 370 Camera’s. I picked up the Camera on WED. and for the life of me I cannot get a good picture out of it. Not sure if it’s the camera or me.

First of all it’s an HD camera set to DVCPRO 50 SD. The station is not fully HD yet so everyone shoots in SD. Also the lens is a stock lens that came free with the camera (not so good). My problem is that everything I shoot is soft when transferred to the laptop editor or out of the camera into a monitor but looks great in the viewfinder and the little monitor built on the side of the camera.

I checked back focus it’s fine. I thought cheap crappy lens! So I got a 1/3 – 2/3 adapter and put a decent lens on it. Now it’s not an HD lens but it did help a little but still everything looks soft.

Next I played around with the settings and detail to see if that would sharpen it up. Not at all. This is going to be a problem this weekend.

Has anyone had the same problem and what is the cure.
