I recently just accepted a full-time editor job at a commercial TV news operation. I’m also doing the paperwork to do some freelance work on the side on my days off or on my time off on a case-by-case basis. My full-time job would still take precedence over any of the freelance stuff. I still haven’t decided whether to tell my full-time employer about this side thing. Is this very common in the freelance world, where someone works full-time and does freelance on the side? If so, has problems arisen from it. For example, I might agree to to a freelance gig a month ahead of time, have it scheduled, and then the morning of the shoot, my boss from my full-time job calls and says he needs me to come in that day.
