The problem here is that there’s no leadership, sorry Kevin but I always took pride in my honesty and speak up when I saw something wrong, like I said before, the inmates are running the asylum. The place is on cruise control and that’s a real shame because this was the only professional site where we could find professional discussions beneficial to our craft. I take DV Info as a model site, in spite of all the social networks they are still thriving and looks like they have more advertisers and sponsors than ever. In case you wonder where all b-rollers went. Did you know that a thread about our own Douglas that started in March of this year is still on the top five and got almost 11,000 posting? No BS on that site, say something stupid and you post will be gone in a flash.
Our profession needs b-roll more than ever. The industry is changing faster than we can keep up with it. It is changing for those who are employed as well as freelancers, information and real working experiences are sorely needed and this should be the place to get it.
The growing cancer on this site is opinionated people with more egos than smarts. We had great threads ruined because somebody instead of positively contributing to the topic or asking questions decided to state their own opinion rather than actual facts. Opinions are fantasies and individual interpretations, not real facts, not real experiences. They help no one but only draw other opinionated idiots and instigate controversy, like it happened here over and over. In fact if you follow every fight started here it started with somebody who had no business or know how-to participate in the topic but couldn’t resist to open their mouth. Save it for your blog, you can write all the opinions you want there.
Every organization to succeed needs leadership, b-roll is not different.
While writing this I just got an email form a former b-roller. Since the latest round started here a few days ago I got ten times more emails than posting on b-roll. This only prove that people are still interested and I’m sure they would come back if some serious monitoring would be in place.

Ditch that site, Nino. The only reason the king of self-love is berating you from high atop his pedestal is that you’re the only one there who is willing to tell people the truth and call them out on their ignorance. If I would’ve whined as much as the crybabies on that site when I was just getting started, I would’ve been laughed out of the business. Everyone on that site is more interested in patting themselves on the back than learning anything new. They’re certainly not interested in listening to those of us with experience. Let them fail. You’ve given them too many chances as it is. They couldn’t be more willfully ignorant if they joined the Westboro Baptist Church. Feel free to share this email (like you have with others) |
