Those who regularly read my blog are probably vaguely aware of my side project of correcting the Newseum’s inadvertent mistakes and exclusions on their memorial wall….they are mostly newspaper folks running the show so its sadly not surprising there are so many errors in regards to TV (and newsreels).

The current name on my work list is Jimmy Harmon of 11Alive since the Newseum has his name tied to the wrong date and railway accident. A long shot since his death was 35 years ago, but does anyone remember Harmon? I have an account of what exactly happened per a Southern Railway official who was aboard the Southern Crescent that day with his family that, along with newspaper articles, conflicts with the Newseum’s listing. But he shouldn’t be remembered solely for having put his camera on the wrong track to record the final days of an era before Amtrak took over running the Southern Crescent’s route.
