Nearly two dozen Pathe News photographers gathered outside their headquarters at 35 West 45th Street, New York for a group photograph in the summer of 1927.

In the decades ahead, they will bear witness to the trials and triumphs of the 20th century from the deaths of colleagues (including two in this image) to world war in nearly every corner of the globe to social upheavals and the dazzling progress of technology and science.
